Title: data logger for multiple digital weight scale
Post by: feelings78 on May 28, 2010, 04:46:48 AM
Hi,

I have 7 digital weight scale (3 different brands) with RS232 serial port. Each of the weight scale is connected to a printer. Each scale will print the weight value as a record. I am thinking to connect all these weight scales with a data logger into excel file for each weight scale (1 excel per weight scale).

What is the best scenario to do this?
What is in my mind:
1. Convert the RS232 to RJ45 by using MOXA N5150A
2. Connect all the UTP line to a single PC by using a switch
3. Do a data logger by using Advance serial data logger or Advance TCP/IP data logger.

I also need to parser the data into a better format in excel.

Please advice. Thank you

I recommend to use Advanced Serial Data Logger instead, because MOXA can create virtual serial ports for each remote RS232 port. If you'll attach your data example, then I'll suggest parser settings for your scales.
