Hi,

I am using a Garmin GPSMAP 298 sounder and trying to record the NMEA data using your Advanced NMEA Logger.  I have been messing with the settings for a couple of days but can't seem to get what I am looking for.  I have figured out the correct baud rate to get output, but it seems incorrect.  I get a series of lines but the only data that makes any sense is the lat/long data, the rest just seems to be random numbers.  Here is a sample of the output I am getting:

$GPRMC,211739,A,4249.1675,N,10622.8188,W,0.0,235.7,160310,11.1,E,A
$GPRMB,A,,,,,,,,,,,,V,A
$GPGGA,211739,4249.1675,N,10622.8188,W,1,05,1.5,1579.5,M,-19.6,M,,
$GPGSV,3,1,12,09,00,032,00,11,25,305,43,12,10,067,00,14,71,028,46
$GPGSV,3,2,12,18,14,109,00,19,11,246,37,22,49,101,36,26,18,057,37
$GPGSV,3,3,12,30,12,100,00,31,38,177,00,45,00,000,00,51,41,182,00
$GPGLL,4249.1675,N,10622.8188,W,211739,A,A
$GPBOD,,T,,M,,
$GPBWC,211739,,,,,,T,,M,,N,,A
$GPVTG,235.7,T,224.6,M,0.0,N,0.0,K,A
$GPXTE,A,A,,,N,A
$GPAPB,A,A,,,N,V,V,,,,,,,,A

Ideally I need to export just the lat/long and depth data, but if I can interpret the output I can extract what I need later.  Do you have any tips or suggested settings for logging the NMEA data from a Garmin sounder?

I am using the free trial until I can confirm that your software can do what I need it to, then I will purchase the full version.

Thanks.  Travis.

GPRMC (Recommended minimum navigation information) and GPGLL (Geographic position, lat/lon data) strings contain lat/long data. But in your example I don't see sounder data of depth. These sentences should contain DBT, DBK or DBS in the begin.
