Title: Serial Print Logger and a Parallel (centronics) Dot-Matrix printer
Post by: saddx on December 12, 2010, 11:00:00 AM
Is it possible to use Serial Print Logger to replace my old dot-matrix centronics printers? I have purchased a Parallel to RS232 Converter to connect the printer cable to a serial port on another computer. If possible how does one control the handshaking so the sending device doesn't report out of paper.

Usually, this method works without any problems. Please, refer to a manual for your device. It is possible you should not use hardware flow control on the PC side. In any case you may disconnect a corresponding wire from the centronics cable and and may be ground it.
